The Standard Bank Algoa Bay Tuna Classic, traditionally a fishing event only, has transformed into a "must be there" fishing and entertainment bonanza.

• Anglers, friends and family party into the early hours of the morning with top live entertainment, making it the only place to be!

The competition

There are two main competition formats:

• The Standard Bank Algoa Bay Tuna Classic where deep-sea ski boats head for Tunaland to get their lures into the water to catch the heaviest tuna.
• The Tunaland Game Fishing Challenge, here a smaller class of boats (less than 6 m in length) fish for tuna, yellowtail, dorado, sarda sarda and skipjack within a 15 mile limit.

The prize categories

Fisherman and boat entries are rewarded in every possible way. Different prize categories ensure that competitive and demanding game fishing is rewarded by a medley of guaranteed prizes valued at over R300000. Individual and team performances are both recognised and rewarded...

The "Prestigious Boat" Prize - 1st Prize - R50000 CASH PRIZE + Prizes for Top 10 finishes **the accumulated weight of each boat's three largest tuna caught per day, divided by the number of days fished will determine the winner.

The "Fish of the Tournament" Prize - 1st Prize - A ski boat and motor valued at over a R100000 + Prizes for the Top 3 finishes **based on the heaviest tuna landed and weighed. Tunaland Game Fishing Challenge - prizes are awarded to the top boat based on heaviest catch overall and heaviest individual categories of tuna, yellowtail, skipjack, dorado, sarda sarda.
